Marine science fun!

Today, Noirin from the Explorer's Project came into our class to talk to us about marine science. She showed us some dried sea creatures, including a starfish, a seahorse, a sea snail and a set of shark's teeth! We then did an experiment to determine whether fresh water is heavier than salt water.

We put red food colouring in the salt water and as you can see, we discovered it is heavier than fresh water!

The Bug Doctor!

Today we had a visit from the bug doctor! What a fun surprise! We went to the hall where we met Michel.

Firstly, Michel showed us a real, live tarantula! He explained that the tarantula is an arachnid who won't attack unless he feels threatened.

Then, we saw a scorpion. Some of us were very brave and held the scorpion in our hands!!!

Michel then passed around some millipedes. We thought they tickled us with all of their legs!

Then we saw some stick insects, a lizard and a snake!!! We scratched the lizard's back (which was quite sharp) and felt the snake (he was very rubbery!)

We had so much fun at the bug doctor today. Thanks, Michel!

Hallowe'en walk!

We all got dressed up for our Hallowe'en walk around Renmore. We raised lots of money for our school and we had such a fun day, with lots of treats and excitement! After our walk, we went to the yard where we watched the Glee club's performance of 'Thriller!'
